Amtrak extends discounts for veterans of the U.S. military, providing a 10% discount on the lowest available rail fare for most Amtrak trains. To be eligible, veterans must have served in one of the following branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, NOAA Corps*, U.S. Public Health Service*, or U.S. Merchant Marines.*
Amtrak, our nation's passenger railroad system, covers 21,000 route miles in 46 states, the District of Columbia, and three Canadian provinces. Operating over 300 trains each day at speeds up to 150 mph, Amtrak serves more than 500 destinations.
Details of the Offer:
- The veteran discount is not applicable to Saver Fares or on weekday Acela trains.
- Non-Acela Business class, First class, or sleeping accommodation are excluded from the veteran discount, with upgrades permitted upon payment of the full accommodation charges.
- The veteran discount does not apply to travel on certain Amtrak Thruway connecting services.
- It is not valid on the Canadian portion of services operated jointly by Amtrak and VIA Rail Canada.
- The veteran discount may not be combinable with other discount offers; refer to the terms and conditions for each offer. Additional restrictions may apply.
